Investing For Women

By Mike Narouei, Content Producer at Boring Money

5 Feb, 2020

A quick bit about us...

Boring Money is for anyone who thinks that investments are, well, just a little bit boring. For anyone who wants some validation about what you're planning. Our mission is to cut through the cr@p, to explain stuff in normal language and to help everyone who has ever felt a bit alienated, patronised or simply cross-eyed and exhausted, to make some good decisions and to get those financial monkeys off your back.

Founder and CEO Holly Mackay has worked in the investment industry for about 20 years, watching an endless procession of the Old School Brigade wanting to “educate” investors and force them to read pages of gobbledygook until they feel like banging their heads against walls. She thinks this is unhelpful.

Calling all women in their 40s/50s/60s

If you’re fed up of being in the dark about money, have ever felt patronised by "the suits", and want to make more confident decisions without spending hours glued to the Boring Financial News Network, help is at hand.

We are hosting a webinar for women to help with those important, complex questions which need answers – but many don’t know where to start. In one hour we will stroll through some key facts on investments and pensions, with the focus on practical, sensible help.

Hosted by CEO Holly Mackay with special guests including financial adviser Helena Wardle ( and a fund manager Louise Kernohan, we will talk: Investments, pensions, divorce, ISAs – all the fun stuff!

Our aim is not to lecture but to cut through the waffle and give you actionable clear tips. Like most things we do, this will not be too formal. All are welcome – we will just focus the main content on women starting to plan for, coming up to and navigating retirement.

We are planning more webinars covering money matters in June and July so if any of the below topics take your fancy be sure to register your interest and we'll be in touch.

  • Investment 2021 – smart picks and sectors moving forward. 2020 was a hugely volatile year. Tech stocks ruled the roost. And sustainable investment did well. However in 2021 as we come out of hibernation, some of the ‘uncool’ stuff has had a moment. What does the future hold, which sectors look interesting and what does a diversified portfolio mean in 2021? (Oh – and what’s the next Amazon!? Although we cant promise the answer to that…)

  • Crypto currency - a sceptic's view. Is Crypto really going to the moon or is it just enjoying a brief moment in the sun? Spoiler alert...we haven't really got the answer!! In fact, nobody does and social media influencers guaranteeing that the only way is up for crypto should be treated with caution. In this webinar, we're going to try and get beyond the hype and ask what cryptoassets really are, how they're used, who is buying them and whether they're really a worthwhile investment. So if you're thinking of taking a stake in this little-known but much-debated new breed of investment, join Boring Money and industry experts from both side of the crypto divide to learn more.
