About me

I have been an Adviser, Planner, writer, trainer and business consultant since 1982.

Between 1999 and 2003 I was a Director and subsequently Vice-Chairman of the Society of Financial Advisers (SOFA), now the Personal Finance Society (PFS).

Between 2007 and 2012 I was a Director of the Institute of Financial Planning (IFP), and Chair of the Ethics and Practice Standards Committee. Between 2009 and 2014 I was a member of the Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB) Regulatory Advisory Panel (RAP).

Apart from the UK, Phil has worked with Advisers, Planners and Regulators in the Isle of Man, USA, India, Canada, Monaco, Bulgaria, Hungary, South Africa, Australia, Jersey, Guernsey, Gibraltar and Eire, and has been published in the UK, Europe, the USA, Australia and South Africa.

He has served as an Expert Witness to the Courts of England, Gibraltar and Scotland, and has been a guest Lecturer at the City of London University. He has been a judge for ‘Financial Adviser of the year’ awards for a number of publications, both in the UK and internationally, since 2002.

In 2005 and 2011, the ‘Professional Adviser’ newspaper voted him in the top 50 most influential IFAs in the UK. In October 2018, and again in 2019, International Adviser magazine nominated him in the ‘Top 100 Most Influential Global figures’.

I specialise in working with those with financial affairs in more than one jurisdiction, and have been a pension specialist for decades!
