This week, Nvidia reported blistering results – about $68 billion in revenue for the last three months – but even this astonishing performance was not enough to satisfy analysts and the share price fell amidst broader heebie-jeebies about whether the AI tech play is overcooked.

Closer to home the FTSE 100
Ignored all the tech hoo-ha and soared to new highs, with Rolls-Royce and HSBC being key contributors.

I’ve been having an AI-y week. Don’t hate me, my sun-deprived friends, but I’m writing this in Miami, where I’ve come to speak at a financial services conference on what good consumer content looks like. And how AI will change how we serve up better personalised content to consumers, leaving long, generic and boring PDFs firmly behind.

Some of the tech I’ve seen is jaw-dropping and will change our financial lives for the better. In the next few years. Think personalised updates, suggestions, tax tips, investment baskets made just for you, and more, delivered to non-advised customers without the price tag of an expensive adviser. I’m a sceptical old biddy, but this stuff is seriously impressive.

Despite the innovation around me, my laptop has broken, so I’m ironically tapping this out on my phone. I did get an Uber to the tech store – a massive Chevrolet driven by a Cuban the size of a large fridge, who asked me out for a mojito since you asked – but to no avail. My laptop is still broken, and I bought my own mojito 😀

So you will forgive me for keeping this brief! In other news, this week the Boring Money team has published a piece looking at year-end tax tips. You don’t need AI to remind you that the end of the tax year is just 39 days away, so time to consider what you might do to make the most of your allowances.
