Do I need to self-declare income from a SIPP?

21 June 2024

Question by Boring Money reader

Hi,

I have some ISAs which do not need to be declared on the self-assessment tax declaration form, and also a SIPP. Does the latter need to be declared and if so will the private company inform me of the amount that needs to be declared?

Thanks.

Private pension investments grow tax-free, similar to your ISA, so you don’t need to declare their performance on your tax return. You should declare the contributions you have made personally to the SIPP as that attracts Income Tax savings.
