Does the OCF column represent ongoing charges as a percentage of the capital?

Question by Nick

Hello

On your "top investment trusts" page does the OCF column represent ongoing charges as a % of the capital? .......... and are the 3 year and 5 year performance figures NET of the ongoing charge?

Answered by Boring Money

Hi.

Yes - the OCF charge is a percentage of invested capital. 3 and 5 year performance figures are calculated net of all fund charges, but do not take into account the charges of the investment platform. For example, if you are looking at a Fundsmith fund on AJ Bell, the performance figures are net of Fundsmith's fund managment fees, but you would still need to pay AJ Bell's £1.50 trading fee to buy the investment and the 0.25% platform charge to hold the investment on their platform. Those AJ Bell fees are NOT reflected in the performance figures.
