Question by Keith
I'm hoping to open a Stocks & Shares ISA investing monthly approx. £500 to £1000. I wish to invest in Investment Trusts, ETFs, Tracker funds and managed funds. What's the most cost effective platform I can use. Keith.

Dear Keith
Using the Boring Money research I would suggest you consider two options:
Vanguard who I think are the cheapest and have a very good range of ETFs and Tracker funds and also their Life Strategy range of funds caters well for differing risk attitudes. The downside hear is the limitation to Vanguard’s funds only.
AJ Bell YouInvest who are very good value but not quite as cheap as Vanguard, but offer access to a much wider choice of investment funds and providers in addition to Vanguard.
When choosing a fund to use, bear in mind that unit trusts and open ended investment companies (OEICs) that are UK domiciled are protected under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) up to £85,000 per fund provider.
The FSCS protection does not apply to Ireland or Luxembourg based funds for instance, nor does it apply to Investment Trusts or ETFs.
