The four most popular investment trusts across AJ Bell, Fidelity, Hargreaves Lansdown and Interactive Investor were City of London, F&C, Greencoat UK Wind and Scottish Mortgage.

Greencoat UK Wind has proven popular across the past couple of months, appearing on the bestselling investment trust list of all 4 platforms in June 2023. Trading at a discount of 17% (as of 11th July 2023), this investment offers diversified exposure to a portfolio of approximately 45 wind farms across the UK. The Trust's policies are fairly unique for the sector - one example is how it explicitly states its intention to increase dividends in line with inflation, which will please income-seekers.
The Merchants Trust appeared in the Top 10 lists of 3 platforms this month. Founded in the late 1800s, the investment objective is to provide above average levels of income and long-term capital growth through a policy of investing mainly in higher yielding UK companies. Performance has been below its primary benchmark in the last 12 months, although it outperformed the FTSE All Share Total Return in between July 2021 and June 2022 by almost 15% and has positive 3-year and 5-year returns when compared to the benchmark.
