I can't find a trust fund

I can't find a trust fund

Answered by Boring Money

Hi Lisa

I think you might be talking about Child Trust Funds. These were a tax-free savings account for children born between 1st September 2002 and 2nd January 2011. The scheme was closed in 2011 but it is possible to pay up to £9,000 per year into one that is already open, or to transfer it to a Junior ISA, which was put in place to replace the CTF scheme.

If you are struggling to find one that you think was opened, it is possible to contact HMRC and ask them to provide details to you. There are different forms depending on whether the CTF was for you, or you set it up for a child. The full details are available here: https://www.gov.uk/child-trust-funds/find-a-child-trust-fund

I hope that helps!

Kind regards
