Which provider would you recommend as best in which to invest a £10K lump sum?

You may want to check the comparison section of this site.

Some other important questions would be:
What will these funds be used for? What is the overall goal? It is best to give money a purpose
What risk are you willing to take?
How long will you be investing?

The provider is important, but the underlying fund (risk/asset allocation/charges) is likely to have a more significant impact over time.
