Best Performing Nest Eggs

As it’s the Easter weekend, I’ve shut the lid of my laptop for a few days. We’re not out of the tariff-led volatility yet, but it’s time for a few days to breeeeather!
As a little Easter present, I’ve picked out a few reads and updates you might like.
This week, we published the performance of all the main ‘ready-made’ portfolios out there, managed for you by the experts. The first 3 months of the year have been unsurprisingly torrid and all the higher risk options were down. It's worth remembering the long-term however - Vanguard’s 100% LifeStrategy was a standout performer over the last 5 years, returning 89% since 1 April 2020, followed by Nutmeg who have made 80% for clients in the portfolio Risk Level 10.
And a little note for more experienced investors who like investment trusts – this caught my eye yesterday. According to the Association of Investment Companies, the average yield of the Renewable Energy sector is 10%, spiking to 10.6% on 7 April 2025 (an all-time high), whereas the average yield of the Infrastructure investment trust sector is 6.4%, peaking at a record 6.8% on 7 April 2025. Comes with all sorts of risks (chunky discounts alert) and you should still do your reading, but that’s a big old yield!
