Hi Barry,
I'm sure that everybody has their own rates and I have seen a variance of £40 per hour to £200 per hour. That does not necessarily mean that the £40 coach is a really poor one and the £200 is a top coach.
The most important thing is to find the right fit for what someone needs coaching help with. What is the coaches expertise or specialism? Do they work only with women or people who run their own businesses?
The only way to do this is to try out a few different people. Most coaches would provide a free initial call called a "discovery call". This allows you the space and freedom to see how you feel during and after the call to see if that person can help as successful outcomes are the most important factor here; cost may be a factor but I'd suggest its not the number one point to focus on.
I offer a free initial call for 30 minutes and my specialism is listening to understand. My hourly rate is £125 if I know I can help and on a call we both determine if I am the right person and if not, I likely know people who can help.
