Help to Buy ISA: If I own 50% of the property, do I get the additional government amount?

09 January 2023

Question by Amelia

I’m buying a property with a partner for more than £450k (in London). I have a Help to Buy ISA with the maximum in for 25% benefit. If I own only 50% of the property (which is £450k), do I get the additional government amount?

Hi Amelia,

The total value of the property must not exceed £450k.

If two people were jointly purchasing a property, both parties can use their own individual Help to Buy ISAs but the total value of the property is limited to £450k, (not 2x £450k).

I hope this answers your question.
