Why look at it now?

Technology is where much of the world's investment is flowing, with huge sums going into data centres and the infrastructure behind AI. ATT's managers argue that simply tracking a tech index means betting heavily on a handful of giant companies, and that an active manager can also find the next wave of winners in areas like semiconductors and AI software. Over the past year that has paid off: the share price rose 54.6% against 38.8% for its benchmark, the A US stock market index that tracks 30 large, well-known American companies — like Apple, Boeing, and Coca-Cola. It's used as a quick gauge of how the US stock market is performing. When the Dow rises, it generally means investor confidence is up. When it falls, the opposite is true. It's one of the world's oldest and most-quoted indices, though the S&P 500 — which covers 500 companies — is often considered a more complete picture of the US market..
