Q3 2026 Ready-Made Portfolio Returns: Which Portfolios Performed Best?

Compare performance data across high, medium and low risk solutions

How did ready-made solutions perform in Q3 2026?

Renewed tensions in the Middle East made Q3 2026 a difficult quarter for financial markets, pushing up energy costs and bond yields. The US 10-year Treasury yield rose from 4.6% at the end of August to a peak of 5.3% at the quarter end. Rising yields also shaped which sectors did well. Despite fears that higher borrowing costs would deter the hyperscalers from spending on AI, technology companies continued to power ahead.

Against this backdrop, ready-made solutions were resilient, with the average fund up 0.6%. However, this was well below last quarter’s average return of 8.95%. With bond markets weak, higher equity exposure was an advantage: higher risk funds delivered an average of 1.4%. Bonds dragged on lower risk portfolios, which fell by an average of 1.3% over the quarter, while medium risk portfolios delivered a flat return on average.

What were the average returns by risk category?

High risk ready-made portfolios averaged 1.4% in Q3 2026, compared to 0% for medium risk and -1.3% for low risk portfolios.

High risk portfolios have returned an average of 57.2% over three years and 59.9% over five years. Medium risk portfolios returned 37.7% and 32.9%, and low risk portfolios returned 21.2% and 12.0%.

The table below illustrates the average performance of ready-made solutions from the three risk categories - high, medium and low:
