We thought your questions were brilliant and you certainly put our experts through their paces! Here’s a recap of some of our favourite bits.
1 – What are your thoughts on ChatGPT and the opportunities that AI poses?
Holly asked Ben for his thoughts on the future of AI in light of the recent flurry of interest in new technology such as ChatGPT. He explained why he's "hugely excited" for the opportunities that this rapidly-evolving subsector represents and why he thinks AI is, in time, going to "change everything".
2 - The prevalence of the big names in tech
Dennis and Ben tackled the prevalence of the big names in tech and whether or not their sheer size means they transcend the pure 'technology' theme. While Dennis pointed out that many of these firms are now simply "part of the infrastructure", Ben maintained that this in itself doesn't detract from their identity as tech investments.
3 – Is technology a thematic play?
Following on from the previous clip, Ben expanded on why he thinks technology is unique in being a sector as well as "something more" which "underpins really everything". He also explained the risks and rewards that approaching investing from a thematic point of view can present and why timing is always "half the battle".
4 – The importance of diversification
Finally, Holly asked Dennis for his approach to diversification and how he encourages his clients to look after their money. He explained why he prefers to start with a highly-diversified "global approach" - generally tracking a global index - and then prompting careful consideration about motives and timeframes if you want to go overweight in a particular area.
