Question by Nigel

I am a UK citizen that has retired to Spain. I would like to invest in the Vanguard platform but it looks like this is not allowed. Is that correct?

Are there any similar online platforms that fit my UK/Spanish nationality/citizenship?

Hello Nigel,

Vanguard have a range of products domiciled in Europe. There should be a fairly broad array of low cost investment funds and exchange traded funds which are UCITIS products, this means they cross national boundaries, so I am surprised you are having trouble accessing them. Are you going direct to Vanguard?

The other consideration is tax, if you are resident in Spain all year then you will need to make sure that you understand and are registered to pay tax in Spain. You would also no longer be able to invest in tax efficient UK products such as ISAs if you are not normally resident in the UK.

I hope that answers your question? If you have any further queries give me a shout.

Kind Regards,

Mary Green
