Boring Money's expert analysis
Like a long distance runner who never runs out of puff, the retail investor interest in the US and tech continues. However, with a nod to heightened global tensions, gold is shining as a favoured option for those looking for a safer haven, with prominence across all main platforms’ exchange traded fund top picks.
There are different ways in which investors are getting their technology fix. For some, it’s just owning a large collection of the world’s largest tech stocks, using vehicles like the Legal & General Global Technology Index Fund or the Invesco NASDAQ 100 exchange traded fund. Some prefer their fund managers to make some bets, and sift out some (hopeful) winners and Allianz Technology and Polar Capital Technology feature in bestselling investment trusts lists.
Jupiter India adds a touch of international interest to a Yankee-heavy bestseller list and in the world of investment trusts, some China trusts start to feature again as noise around a stimulus package give some cause for hope that the world’s second largest economy can pull itself out of its slump and continue the rally seen in recent weeks.
If we look at the dominant holdings in bestselling India funds compared to China funds, India is a story of oil, ciggies and banking whereas China is about entertainment, social media and shopping. An interesting divergence between these two global powerhouses.
