What is the timeline for proposed IHT changes?

10 December 2024

Question by Mike

Hi,

Has or will BM create any post-budget articles on IHT specifically on the proposed timetable for consultation? If not, will it provide links to such related articles?

Joined BM today and am hoping it may live up to my expectations.

Regards,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your question and welcome to Boring Money!

We have a number of articles which you may find useful for inheritance tax (IHT).

We cover the upcoming changes to IHT here in our most recent post-Budget round-up. The most important date to note is 6 April 2025, when the changes to agricultural and business property IHT relief will come into force with the start of the new tax year.

We also have a comprehensive guide to IHT and some tips on how to reduce how much you (and/or your loved ones) need to pay.

If you have any further or more specific questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Hope this helps!
